Bassist BLASKO Talks About Playing With OZZY, ROB ZOMBIE
April 2, 2004Former OZZY OSBOURNE/ROB ZOMBIE bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson has spoken to Horror Rock Bass about his current status with both groups and his new project THE DEATH RIDERS. Asked to explain what went down with his position in Ozzy's band, Blasko said, "I auditioned back in November, and got the gig. Then the European tour got cancelled because of his ATV accident. Now the Ozzfest appears to SABBATH instead of OZZY. Oh well, shit happens."
With regards to the possibility of more recording/gigging with ROB ZOMBIE, Blasko said, "My future with Rob is whatever he wants. If he makes a record or goes on tour or just throws a party, I'll be there. Right now he is in pre-production for his new movie, and will think about what comes next musically after the movie is done."
On the subject of his new band, Blasko described THE DEATH RIDERS' sound as "very much different [from ROB ZOMBIE]. To do something like Rob or Glenn [Danzig] would be too predictable, and let's face it, those guys are awesome, no one wants to hear me ripping them off. THE DEATH RIDERS is a project that has a been a few years in the making and I'm very excited about it finally seeing the light of day. Fans can expect a barrage of everything from AFI to WHITE ZOMBIE and everything in between. Imagine 'Night Of The Living Dead' meets 'Satan's Sadists' put to music."
